Edvard Lindfors of Hanko has been named among the first candidates for the Swedish People’s Party
in the Uusimaa electoral district for the parliamentary elections. The decision was made at the party’s Uusimaa
district annual meeting in Kauniainen.
Following a successful run in the 2025 municipal elections and nearly a year serving as chairman of the city board, Lindfors now wants to aim higher.
, he remains motivated by the same issues that originally led him to enter politics:
children and young people, equality and well-being, and a balance between urban and rural areas –
always putting people first.

  • The opportunity to be involved in developing my hometown and region has
sparked my interest in politics. I have noticed that most municipalities
struggle with the same issues, but major decisions are ultimately made
in Parliament. That is why I want to be involved in influencing as a Member of Parliament, Lindfors
    says.
Lindfors shares young people's concern for the future and wants to be involved in building
    more constructive and cooperation-based decision-making.
  • Young people are our future. I want to be involved in building a sustainable
future that both young people and adults can trust and look towards
with hope. In an era of increasing polarization, both globally and in
Finland, we need more constructive dialogue and the ability to cooperate
across party lines – despite differences in opinion.

Lindfors strongly believes that many could find their party in the Swedish People's Party, and looks forward to highlighting the party's values and way of doing politics: solution-oriented and
together.

  • I look forward to the campaign and the opportunity to meet voters. Hearing their thoughts,
meeting new people, and engaging in discussions energizes me.
At the same time, Lindfors points out that the current political discussion culture can increase concern
among citizens and lead to fewer people trusting decision-making.
As a result, many do not want to follow politics or be involved in decision-making.
  • I know that things can be done better, and that is why I am running in the parliamentary elections,
    says Lindfors.

Edvard Lindfors is 28 years old and lives in Hanko. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and
works in business development as a project manager at Novia University of Applied Sciences.
After serving as a Hanko city councilor for four years, Lindfors now serves as
chairman of the city board following the 2025 municipal elections. He is also active in the Swedish People's Party Youth as Chair of the Environmental Policy Committee and Vice Chair of the Uusimaa District of the Swedish People's Party Youth.
