OLYMPIA CINEMA / DIAMONDS

Run by two sisters, a dressmaking studio in 1970s Rome serves the cream of the cultural elite. The studio’s corridors are filled with glamorous film and theater divas, and the predominantly female team of seamstresses works tirelessly to bring costume designers’ visions to life. When Oscar-winning costume designer Bianca Vega (Vanessa Scalera, Imma Tataranni) commissions costumes for a new film, the tailor shop’s already star-studded daily routine is turned upside down. Directed by Ferzan Özpetek, a multiple award-winner in his native Italy and Turkey, Diamonds is a sparkling tribute to women and the magic of cinema. The magnificent ensemble is filled with strong female roles, each with her own story and tragedy to tell—or to hide. Supported by the Creative Europe program—MEDIA.
