"Michael" is a film about the life and legacy of one of the most significant artists of all time. The film tells the story of Michael Jackson, tracing his journey from the incredibly talented young frontman of The Jackson 5 to a visionary artist whose ambitious goal was to become the world’s biggest star. The story focuses on Michael’s life offstage and his most famous performances from the early days of his solo career. Viewers get a front-row seat to Michael Jackson’s life in a way never seen before. This is where his story begins. Michael is played by Jaafar Jackson in his first leading role, alongside Nia Long (Empire, The Best Man film series) and Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman, Spider-Man: Homecoming). Also starring are Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick, Whiplash) and two-time Oscar® nominee Colman Domingo (Sing Sing, Rust). The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for the films Training Day and Olympus Has Fallen, as well as the Equalizer film series. The screenplay was written by three-time Oscar® nominee John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator). The film was produced by Oscar® winner Graham King (The Departed, Bohemian Rhapsody), John Branca (executive producer: This Is It, Thriller 40), and John McClain (executive producer: This Is It, Michael Jackson Live at Wembley July 16, 1988).
