KINO OLYMPIA / Broken English

Broken English
In this acclaimed documentary, Marianne Faithfull, alongside Tilda Swinton and George MacKay, reimagines her story as an artist and a woman in the spotlight. She is joined by friends and colleagues such as Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, and Courtney Love. BROKEN ENGLISH has been praised for its playful way of tearing apart Faithfull’s public image as merely “Mick Jagger’s woman.” The film brings to life memories of a magnificent and long-lasting career, in which her unforgettable husky voice carried her from folk music to new wave, and through many hardships. The directors are Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, who are remembered for the Nick Cave film 20,000 Days on Earth. A feature film about Faithfull’s life, titled Marianne, is also currently in production with a Finnish crew, directed by Zaida Bergroth. — Supported by the UK Global Screen Fund – financed by the UK Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport and administered by the BFI
