Bill works as a coal merchant in a small Irish town to support his family, when he gradually begins to uncover the dark secrets hidden within the local convent. At the same time, he is forced to confront his own past and the silence of a community dominated by the Catholic Church. Emily Watson stars as Sister Mary, the head of the convent.
