KINO OLYMPIA / Hanko Theater Festival: Back to Back Pictures Presents, Shadow

Hangö Theater Festival: Back to Back Pictures Presents, Shadow
Simon, Scott, and Sarah—activists with intellectual disabilities—hold a meeting to discuss the future impact of artificial intelligence. Simon, who sees himself as the community’s savior, appoints himself mayor, and Scott reluctantly takes on the role of facilitator, but it isn’t long before he becomes intoxicated by his own power and begins to disregard the experiences of others. Often underestimated and overlooked, Sarah snaps and confronts the so-called leaders about their shortcomings. The conversation, which began politely, quickly turns into an argument and chaos, seemingly provoked by some internal force. Sarah tries to unite the group, but realizes that the battle to get the message across may already be lost.
"Shadow" isa film adaptation of the play*The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes*, and it raises difficult questions about the modern world, equality, and what it means to have an intellectual disability as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly prominent part of our lives.
