From the multiple award-winning Aleksi Salmenperä (whose credits include *A Man’s Work*, *The Giant*, and *The Void*), *Father’s Day* is a heartfelt tragicomedy about the measures of success in life. In the film, Veikko (Tommi Korpela) helps his friend Tinke (Tomi Lindfors) cope with daily life at a care facility. Tinke has drunk away his health, and the humor bubbling up from the darker side of life is what keeps things together. When the teenage twins (Vilja and Varpu Rintanen) of Saimi (Laura Birn)—a friend from the friends’ band days—decide to find out about their father, their search leads them to Tinke. Saimi intends to prevent the twins from meeting Tinke, but Veikko, who has been swept up in the mess, disagrees.

Tomi Lindfors, who stars alongside Salmenperä’s regular actor Tommi Korpela, brings his own personal experience of life on the sidelines to this bittersweet story. Lindfors and Tommi Korpela’s decades-long real-life friendship has also been glimpsed before in Salmenperä’s Jussi Award-winning film *Tyhjiö*.
