As his marriage gradually falls apart, Alex (Will Arnett) finds himself facing both the challenges of middle age and the looming threat of divorce, prompting him to seek new meaning in his life within New York’s comedy scene; Tess (Laura Dern), meanwhile, is confronted with the sacrifices she has made for her family—so they both find themselves navigating the conflicting pressures of shared custody and the search for a new identity, while wondering if love can take on a new form.
