Bengskär is part of the municipality of Kemiönsaari and is located on the outermost islet of the Archipelago Sea, 15 nautical miles—or just about 25 kilometers—southwest of Hanko. The lighthouse was opened to tourists in 1995 and has been a very popular tourist destination ever since.
